‘Concussion’ Dr. Bennet Omalu advises NFL and Dolphins to retire Tua Tagovailoa

If Dr. Bennet Omalu – the brain expert responsible for the discovery of CTE – ran the NFL or the Miami Dolphins… he says TMZ Sports he would force it Tua Tagovailoa to retire after his latest head injury.
The inspiration for the famous Will Smith The movie “Concussion” didn’t mince words when talking about it on Friday. He made it clear what the consequences would be if the 26-year-old returned to the field after yet another concussion that could be devastating.
Tua committed to this run to pick up the first down and got carried away and didn’t know how to protect himself
He literally ran into Damar Hamlin, who didn’t look like he was about to throw a punch

Omalu specifically says that if Tagovailoa were to suffer another major blow to the brain, he could become “permanently incapacitated.”
“If the company puts him back in the game,” Omalu said, “knowing that there is a significant and substantial risk that this individual could subsequently suffer catastrophic and permanent brain damage – why would you put him back in prison? play?”
Temporary head coach of Dolphins Mike McDaniel says the decision is in Tagovailoa’s hands … but right now, a timeline for a decision is the furthest thing anyone in the building wants to talk about.
That said, Omalu told us that if he had any connection to Tagovailoa, he would strongly urge the footballer to give it up.
Mike McDaniel GETS IT. His answer to whether Tua Tagovailoa should retire is worth two minutes of your time.

“If I were his brother, his father, his uncle, cousin, if I were a member of his family,” Omalu said, “I would beg him to retire.”
Of course, Omalu suggested this to Tagovailoa before…following his significant head injury against the Bengals in 2022.
Now he’s pleading with the quarterback to listen to him seriously this time and, honestly, “Find something else to do.”
