Capella Hotel Group appoints Roland Fasel as president | News


Fasel has a track record of leading operations with some of the world’s leading luxury hotel brands. Most recently, as Group Chief Operating Officer at Maybourne Hotel Group, Fasel oversees an iconic portfolio including Claridge’s, The Connaught, The Berkeley, The Maybourne Beverly Hills and The Maybourne Riviera.

Prior to Maybourne, Fasel spent six years as Chief Operating Officer at Aman Resorts (2017-2023), where he led the global business during a period of significant expansion. He oversaw the opening of properties including Amanyangyun in China, Aman Kyoto in Japan and the landmark Aman New York.

Fasel was also managing director at Badrutt’s Palace in St. Moritz, where he led an $80 million repositioning that returned the property to profitability and market leadership. He was instrumental in the launch of the Dorchester Collection and was General Manager of The Dorchester and Regional Director UK for nine years, where he also oversaw Coworth Park and 45 Park Lane.

He began his career at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in the United States before serving in progressive leadership roles in Southeast Asia, culminating in his first General Manager assignment at Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts.

In his role as president, Fasel will maintain operational excellence and brand integrity in both respects Capella Hotels and Resorts And Patina Hotels & Resorts while leading the group’s global expansion to double its current portfolio by 2030. His appointment comes after Capella Hotels and Resorts was named Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Hotel Brand for three consecutive years (2023-2025). The group currently operates six Forbes Five-Star hotels among its 12 hotels and is preparing for groundbreaking openings in the Middle East and Europe. Fasel will focus on building brand awareness in these new markets while enhancing guest experiences that strengthen brand love and recognition globally.
