EXCLUSIVE: $1.76 Billion Powerball Winner’s Former Mountain Cabin Home Lists for $250,000 – 500 Yards From Where He Purchased the Winning Ticket

The winner of a $1.76 billion Powerball jackpot is seeing his former California home up for sale, just three months after he donated the property to a nonprofit.

Theodorus Struyck purchased his home in Frazier Park in 2010. He owned the property until December 2025, when he donated it to the Triomf Foundationaccording to public records. The Triumph Foundation is a California-based nonprofit organization that provides resources and support for spinal cord injuries. Realtor.com® reached out for comment.

Struyck bought the house for $90,000. Nearly 15 years later, the house is for sale for $250,000. The location is about a quarter mile from the Kern County supermarket, where he purchased the winning Powerball ticket in October 2023.

Struyck won the $1.765 billion Powerball jackpot, the third highest prize ever, and also ended the longest stretch without a winner.

The ticket was purchased at Midway Market, a family-owned business for 30 years. The store received a $1,000,000 bonus check for selling the ticket.

According to California Lottery officials, the winning ticket came after 35 missed drawings.

“Announcing big wins in this way gives all our players the opportunity to hope and dream that they can be next,” said California Lottery Director Harjinder K. Shergill Chima said shortly after the announcement that there was a winner.

Modest house

Struyck called his Frazier Park home for almost fifteen years. According to the listing, the two-bedroom, two-bath home was built in 1986. It measures 1,176 square feet with an attached one-car garage.

It’s described as a “mountain escape and commute convenience” that’s ready to roll. Next to the garage there is parking for five or six cars.

The house has central air and a fireplace, but the outside deck offers views of Cuddy Creek.

Frazier Park is located in Cuddy Canyon, in the Los Padres National Forest. It is described as a mountain retreat along the I-5 corridor, north of Los Angeles.

Winners from California

Struyck isn’t the only Powerball winner to stand out in the state. Edwin Castro purchased his $2 billion winning Powerball ticket at a gas station in Altadena, CA, in 2022. Since then, he became one of the largest investors buying up burned lots in Altadena, which was devastated by the January 2025 wildfires.

Castro spent time in Altadena as a child. The community lost approximately 9,000 structures. The Wall Street Journal reported that Castro had purchased at least 15 lots and spent $10 million.
