Netflix orders animated series ‘Dang!’ With Stephanie Hsu and Poppy Liu

Netflix has ordered a new adult animated series from co-creators Andrew Law and Matt Murray, with Mike Schur serving as executive producer.

The cast of the series, titled “Dang!”, includes Law, Stephanie Hsu (“Everything Everywhere All at Once,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) and Poppy Liu (“Hacks,” “His & Hers”). The logline for the show states that it “follows a brother and sister duo whose fun, messy life in New York City is interrupted when their worst nightmare comes true: their high-achieving older sister shows up and wants to hang out with them.”

Law (“Hacks,” “The Good Place”) and Murray (“Parks and Recreation,” “The Good Place”) are writers, executive producers and co-showrunners of “Dang!” Schur is producing alongside Alan Yang, David Miner for 3Arts Entertainment, and Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Ben Kalina and Antonio Canobbio of animation studio Titmouse. Universal Television will produce, while Schur and his Fremulon banner currently have an overall deal at UTV.

“We are thrilled to be working with Netflix, Universal Television and Titmouse on ‘Dang!’” said Law. “We hope you fall in love with these characters. Or at least find them very attractive. Sexually.”

“Mike Schur, Andrew Law and Matt Murray are experts at finding the heart and hilarity in the most complex relationships,” said John Derderian, Netflix’s Vice President of Animation Series + Kids & Family TV. “With ‘Dang!’ they tackle the relatable chaos of sibling rivalry, brought to life by the undeniable chemistry between Andrew Law, Poppy Liu and Stephanie Hsu. As home to the best creators and adult animated series, we are excited to bring this incredible team and new show to our global audience.”
