Pima County Sheriff on Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, how the family is doing

Today‘S Savannah Guthrie and her family search for answers during mother’s disappearance Nancy GuthriePima County Sheriff Chris Nanos only tells We weekly.
“As you can imagine, this is tough on all of them,” Nanos said Us on Monday, Feb. 2, when asked how the family is doing. “They lean on each other. They work very well with us and everything we do. They are involved and committed. It’s difficult, there’s no doubt about that.”
Nanos noticed that Savannah’s sister, Annie Guthriewas the last to see their mother. (Nancy shared daughters Savannah, 54, and Annie and son Camron with deceased husband Karelwho died of a heart attack at age 49.)
When asked if Annie raised any warnings about her mother’s behavior, Nanos replied: “No, we don’t have anything like that, no.”
Nanos further noted that “you never want to lose hope” during an investigation.
“We don’t want anyone to lose hope. So that’s always there, and that’s a good thing. But in the same sense, just as there is hope, there are also things that point to us and say, ‘This lady is in danger,'” he said. “Even if she were to leave that home and still be with us, we will be on call 24 hours a day. We have spoken to her medical professionals, but we know her element, and we know what medications she needs and going without her medications… could be fatal. And 24 hours later… the time has come… [of] the essence here.”
On Sunday, February 1, news broke that Nancy had been reported missing by a family member who called 911. Nanos shared at a press conference on Monday that a friend from Nancy’s church noticed she was not at a service and called one of her children.
The friend then went to Nancy’s house and “did some searching and realized, ‘We need help,’ and they called 911.”
While Savannah was absent from Monday’s broadcast of the Today show, Sheinelle Jones appeared next to Craig Melvin during the first hour to convey a statement from her family.
“We want to do justice to what is a very personal story for us,” says Melvin (46). “Nancy Guthrie, Savannah’s beloved mother, has been reported missing in Arizona.”
A statement from Savannah said: “On behalf of our family, I would like to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and expressions of support. At this time, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mother. We thank law enforcement for their hard work in this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.”
Jenna Bush Hagermeanwhile, became emotional during the show’s fourth hour. Bush Hager, 44, went on to say that Nancy is “taking medication daily” that she needs “to survive” and that she is probably “out of her meds” right now.
“We are currently thinking of our dearest, dearest Savannah and her entire family,” Bush Hager said. “Our prayers obviously go out to Savannah.”
During an initial press conference on Monday, Nanos said there were “some concerns” about what was found in Nancy’s home. When asked whether there was a suspicion of foul play, Nano replied that he ‘couldn’t rule it out’.
“We did pretty much everything we could,” Nanos added, noting that search and rescue and criminal investigation teams were called in to assist in addition to drones, dogs and a helicopter.
In a separate news conference, authorities claimed they could tell Nancy “did not leave alone” and that they “don’t view this as much of a search mission” as a crime scene. “She couldn’t walk 50 meters on her own,” she added.
Nanos further noted that he believes there is no active threat to the public at this time.
‘We’re going to search that area, maybe there’s a prowler [that’s] “There is still a lot of work to be done. There is still a lot of work to be done. We have no indication that the public is still in danger.”
