Influencer Stacey Hatfield dies after rare complication during home birth

Australian wellness influencer Stacey Warnecke (born Hatveld) died after a complication following a home birth.

Share the news via Instagram on Sunday, October 19, the Melbourne-based influencer’s husband said Nathan Warneckewrote an emotional tribute to his “soulmate and best friend.”

Nathan confirmed that Stacey, a nutritionist and content creator behind the recipe website Natural spoonsgave birth to the couple’s first child, son Axel, at home before passing away on September 29. “Tragically, an unforeseen and extremely rare complication occurred shortly afterwards and she passed away after being taken to hospital,” Nathan wrote. “The hospital staff were wonderful and did their utmost to help, but in the end, despite their best efforts, nothing could be done.”

Nathan’s Instagram post featured several photos of the couple, including photos that appeared to be taken during the couple’s wedding in the Maldives, showing them strolling along a beach. One of the images also appeared to show Stacey with a pregnant belly.

“I knew Stace for nine wonderful years, she was the light of my life and the reason I got up in the morning,” Nathan continued. “Words cannot do justice to how devastating this is to myself and everyone who knew and loved her. She was my lighthouse in the storm and the world is less bright without her in it. As her husband, I couldn’t ask for a better partner. She was the most beautiful, loving, caring, hardworking, disciplined, intelligent and trustworthy human being I have ever known. She made me the man I am today and everything I put into it I’m alive is all thanks to her.”

The message, written by one of Stacey’s ‘best friends’, stated that a GoFundMe page was started for Nathan by a family member. “Stacey and Nathan lived a quiet, loving life. They would never have asked for help. So I’m asking on their behalf,” the Natural Spoonfuls account posted. “Nathan is stepping into fatherhood with unimaginable strength and grace. He has so much on his plate right now, and if you can support him through this GoFundMe… created by his uncle… it would mean a lot.”

Nathan’s tribute on Instagram also reflected his wife’s perspective on motherhood, her pregnancy and when Axel came into the world. “It was the biggest dream of her life to become a mother. She did it. On her terms, just the way she always dreamed about it. She loved being pregnant and for the past nine months she told our son she loved him every day,” he wrote. “She held Axel when he was born, nursed him, saw he was a boy and loved him. She loved him so much and continues to love him.”

Nathan concluded the post with, “If there’s one thing I can try to reconcile during this terrible time, it’s that her last moments on earth were the happiest I’ve ever seen her. Her memory will remain with those of us who knew her as the goofy, blonde-haired, green-eyed girl whose smile could fill a room.”
