‘The Office’ Alums Visiting ‘The Paper’ premiere with new cast

The Harmony Gold cinema in Hollywood wore unusual signage last Wednesday evening. In the Shadow of Sunset Boulevard’s Billboards that promote Peacock’s upcoming “The Office” Spin – “The Paper”, the Theater De Toledo Truth Tower – in honor of the central setting of the new show.
Made by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, “The Paper” follows the staff of a dying local Ohio newspaper, the Toledo Truth counter, as a new editor-in-chief tries to breathe new life into his journalistic competence. It takes place in the same universe as ‘the office’ and the documentary crew that followed Dunder Mifflin, is now in the door of the Truth counter in search of a new set of topics.
Koman explained that the draw is both comedic and narrowly meaningful. “You could have exactly the same documentary crew that made the first documentary looking for a new topic,” he said Variety On the red carpet. “The documentary crews are characters in the show, and they would be looking for a brand new topic. They would not want to repeat.”
The concept for the spin-off originated with Daniels, who created the American version of “The Office” in 2005. Then Koman remembered: “He made me the enormous honor to invite me to work with him. He shouted an idea to do a show in a documentary style to make a newspaper free to free a newspaper from a newspaper to free a newspaper to free a newspaper from a newspaper to extend a newspaper.” That was enough to get him on board, but Daniels sat down by saying that the series would have a connection with “the office”; Koman was sold.
“The Paper,” which Begins Streaming on Sept. 4, Stars Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciator, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Eric Rahill, Tim Key, Allan Havey, Nate Jackson and Oscar NaScar accountant, Who Reprinez His Repprises His Repprises His Repprises, Ho Reprinez, His Repprises Hiss His, His Repprises, Hiscar, His Repprises, His Repprises, Office. ”

Gleeson anchores the cast as a overy new editor -in -chief Ned Sampson. “I was really lucky that Michael and Greg just offered me it,” he said, explaining how Daniels and Koman hired him for the role. “They sent the script and asked me if I would be in it. I loved the script. I could see that it was different. It was like a new show. It was not a remake or something. I loved what they were trying to do. So I registered.”
To get into the character of a Midwestern newspaper newspaper, the Irish actor, best known for rolling in Blockbuster franchises such as “Star Wars” and “Harry Potter”, to Ohio and met real newspaper editors. “I went to Cincinnati; I went to Columbus; I went to Toledo,” said Gleeson. “I hung around with a lot of great journalists and great editors and asked them questions. They gave me their time and were incredibly generous. They spoke about how they felt about where journalism is at the moment and what it is like to be involved.”
On the other hand, Impacciatore, which plays Truth counter managing editor Esmeralda Grand, had one of the more chaotic routes to participate in ‘The Paper’. The Italian actor, best known for ‘The White Lotus’, had just packed a film in South Africa when she was invited to audition. “It was the most difficult audition in my entire existence,” Impacciatore said. She not only had 24 hours to learn pages with an English dialogue during her flight back to Rome, but she had never seen the original show. “I looked on the plane for the first time in my life. Can you imagine?” During the audition, Impacciatore said that she ‘had forgotten everything and was black’, but a few days later to learn that she had set the producers and had protected the role.

Rahill, who plays the employee of the counter of De Waarheid, first booked journalist Travis a performance in the Schrijverskamer; Then he started reading during auditions for the role. After four rounds: “Greg read the cast at the final table and the cast took a photo together,” Rahill recalled. ‘[Then] Greg said, “Why don’t you come to that photo?” “Indicates that he had secured the part. Even so, Ikumelo and Edelman also serve as writers, in addition to playing truth counter accountants Adelola Olofin and Adam Cooper respectively.
The starting relationship of Impacciatore with “the office” aside, the cast and crew embraced the chance to pay tribute to the Sitcom, while it also acknowledges that “the newspaper” has something new to say. Nobody knows this better than Nuñez, who is the only fixed value of “the office” to return for the spider -off.
Can some of those other stars appear in future episodes of the spider -off? “It should be logical. I think Paul Lieberstein [who played Toby Flenderson] Maybe it’s logical, “Nuñez said and then joked,” But it might not happen, because then I would have to share the spotlights. ‘
Lieberstein, who also directed an episode of ‘The Paper’, was present for the Première event, just like colleague ‘office’ Alums Creed Bratton, Kate Flannery and Ellie Kemper, who eagerly supported the expansion of the TV world that they helped in building.
Because “The Office” broadcast his final in 2013, it is said that a show like it could not be made today. “The newspaper” challenges the idea directly, executive producer Ben Silverman said: “Here we are, making something like ‘the office’. You will feel uncomfortable and you will laugh at the wrong place, and you will look at your partner sitting next to you and goes:” Was it okay that I laughed? ” But it’s okay “
