Sean Kingston has been officially convicted in his federal wire fraud case … received a punishment near what his lawyers asked.
The rapper was sentenced on Friday in a courtroom in Florida to 42 months – which amounts to 3.5 years – in the federal prison.
As you know … Sean was condemned of federal wire fraud in March, together with his mother, Janice Turner. Janice was sentenced to five years.
Kingston was confronted with a maximum of six years of imprisonment, but His lawyers asked the judge For Clementia earlier this week … with reference to Sean’s squeaky clean record and countless good works in the community. His team specifically pointed out that he not only donated money – he came there and set long hours to help people less happy than himself.
His lawyers wanted between two and two and two and a half years, while public prosecutors hoped to a punishment closer to the maximum. It seems that the judge has divided the difference.
Sean still has to repay money to victims of his crime … and his lawyers asked for imprisonment of the house so that he can do this – with possible music profits to those he hurt.
Sean and Janice were accused of scam companies of more than $ 1 million in a fraud schedule with jewelry, luxury vehicles and other goods.
The two were convicted of wrongly claiming that they sent money transfer for goods … and then retained the goods, even after it was revealed that the transfers did not continue.
