Attack on Titan to get Global Impact Award at Crunchyroll Anime Awards

The 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards has selected the popular Anime “Attack on Titan” as the first receiver of his Global Impact Award, who describes it as celebrating “visionary makers and pioneering works that have left an indelible stamp on culture, history and hearts of the whole world.”

“Attack on Titan” is based on the manga with the same name, written and illustrated by maker Hajime Isayama. ‘Attack on Titan’, published by Kodansha, has sold more than 140 million parts worldwide.

“Attack on Titan” premiered in 2014 with four seasons and was closed in the autumn of 2023. According to Crunchyroll, three of the seasons of the Anime scored a 100% critic score and more than 90% public score on Rotten Tomatoes. The anime ended his run with a final film, “Attack on Titan: The Last Attack” at the end of 2024.

Crunchyroll said that Global Impact Award “can be granted annually to honor works and visionary creatives that have produced the anime series that changes the popular culture of the popular series.”

“The Crunchyroll Anime Awards is our annual celebration of the creative community in Japan and the actors around the world who drive the global love for anime,” said Gita Rebbapragada, the Chief Operating Officer, Crunchyroll. “This year we are proud to introduce the new Global Impact Award. We recently commissioned a study with the National Research Group who is investigating how important anime is for fans, in particular Gen Z. For example, almost 40% of fans of teenage anime consider Anime to have a meaningful part of who they are, and 30% say it prospect is.

A maker of Animation Studio Mappa accepts the Global Impact Award on behalf of all creatives that have worked on ‘Attack on Titan’.

The 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards Première Sunday 25 May at 5 pm Japan Standard Time. The Anime Awards are available for Livestream on Crunchyroll channels on YouTube and Twitch, together with Sony Pictures Core and the Sony Group Corp. Global and Japan YouTube channels.
