‘SWAT’ Spin-off with in the lead role Shemar Moore gets 10-delivery Series Order

“Swat” cannot be knocked down. In a surprising movement, Sony Pictures Television-a Studio-A Studio announced known for finding all conceivable to breathe new life into his apparently canceled series that it had picked up the spin-off series ‘SWAT Exiles’ in itself.

“Swat” star Shemar Moore is back to the star in the new show and repeats his role as Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson in the future with 10 episodes. The news only comes two days after “Swat” had completed his eight-season break on CBS with a two-hour final on 16 May; Sony gave De Greenlight, although “SWAT Exiles” has not yet been sold to stores, either in its own country or international.

But when announcing the news at the LA Screenings event for international buyers, Sony wants to bet that it will find ‘the right houses and partners for these new stories to reach the passionate’ swat ‘fan base and attract new viewers, “the company said in a release. This probably includes CBS or his sister streamer Paramount+, or even Netflix, where “SWAT” library can currently be found.

CBS announced in March that the ‘SWAT’ canceled after eight seasons and 163 episodes – but the third time that ‘Swat’ has been canceled was canceled by the Opsnet. “Swat” had previously brought back to life for a season 8 after CBS had previously announced that the seventh season would be the last. And that was not the first time, because CBS also had the show in 2023 after season 6, before announcing that it would return for a new run.

In both earlier on -channels, CBS, Sony Pictures TV and CBS Studios were able to work out the deal to bring the show back against a license fee that was logical for all those involved. But that was not the case this time, so Sony chooses to do it alone with ‘SWAT Exiles’.

By keeping the “swat” universe alive, Sony said in the release that this “dedicated dedication to producing high -quality content and improves the value of important intellectual property in the developing television landscape.”

Sony said it is already developing the new show and that it is planning to start production in Los Angeles this summer. The studio noted that in the green light “SWAT-Ballingen” “keep jobs for the 200-person local production team that played an important role in the success of the original series in the past eight seasons.”

Here is the longline for the spin-off: “After a controversial mission goes aside, Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson is drawn out of forced retirement to lead an experimental swat unit that are non-tested, unpredictable young recruiters.”

Jason Ning (“Lucifer”, “The Brothers Sun”) has joined the series as an executive producer and showrunner, as part of his recently renewed General Deal at Sony Pictures TV. Moore is also an EP, together with Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty from original film, as well as James Scura.

In a statement, Moore (yes, the caps and exclamation marks are all of him): “My eight seasons about ‘swat’ have been epic and memorable. Sony Pictures TV chairman Keith Le Goy said that expanding the “SWAT” franchise was an example of how “we believe in defending powerful stories and in the exceptional capacity of our teams to create and deliver these stories to the audience all over the world. This faith is embedded and centrally with every decision we make.”

Sony Pictures TV Studios Prexy Katherine Pope added: “We can no longer be more enthusiastic to bring the next chapter of ‘Swat’ to life – both for our incredibly devoted fans of the original franchise and for a new generation of viewers. Ning’s credits also include “Perception”, “The Expanse” and “Mrs. Davis.” He is the following writing and exec -produces (with Ronald D. Moore and Sony Pictures TV) an adjustment of “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”, based on the Wang Dulu book series.
