Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly Sizzle

After the massive successes of his cozy comfort series “Virgin River” and “Sweet Magnolias”, Netflix doubles on the genre – and gives some Western flair – with its latest romantic drama, “Ransom Canyon.” Adapted from the beloved book series by Jodi Thomas and made by April Blair, the show is set in the fictional city of Ransom Canyon, Texas. It follows three Ranching family -Dynasties and a community at a large intersection. ‘Ransom Canyon’ is beautifully shot and a stunning cast, is a sexy, predictable, airy viewing experience that delivers its promises.
“Ransom Canyon” opens with a man on a horse. Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel) looks over the vast countries of his property before turning back to the city. Stoic and brash, the public teaches that states are still faltering due to a huge loss. He works on his ranch and usually sticks to himself, but the only bright spot of his life is Quinn O’grady (Minka Kelly), who left her life as a renowned pianist in New York City to return home to ransom to help a friend. Although Quinn is now aimed at running Gracie’s, Ransom’s Dancehall and Bar, with her best friend, Ellie (Marianly Tejada), her long -term feelings for states continue to chase her.
As it goes in romantic dramas, Quinn has aimed at states, but Davis Collins (Ein Macken), who happens to be the former brother -in -law of states, has been in love with Quinn for years. The tension between the trio further escalates when states and Davis are on either side of a proposition that would lead a pipeline by Ransom Canyon and the men force their respective ranches to sell. The bet increases after Yancy Gray (Jack Schumacher) floats to the city. Yancy finds work as a foreman on the Ranch of Cap Fuller (James Brolin), but his presence begins to generate long -term secrets and places in the middle of the brewing war of states and Davis.
Of course the adults are not the only ones with considerable drama in Ransom Canyon. Cheerleader Lauren Brigman (Lizzy Greene) tries to escape from the small city and the claws of her prospective father, Sheriff Dan Brigman (Philip Winchester). In the meantime, her friend, Reid Collins (Andrew Liner), the Quarterback in high school, is struggling to realize the extremely high expectations of his parents, especially after his unspoilt image has been threatened.
The funny thing about ‘Ransom Canyon’, even more than the ‘Virgin River’ in Northern California, is that every story and storyline is easily three and a half miles away. From the moment the show starts, viewers can predict (with an enormous accuracy) how the season will end. During the first season with 10 episodes there are two moments of real shock and awe, but this made looking at Quinn, States and the ransom no less pleasant. There are various love three corners, a rodeo (bull riding of course), some dead, a mystery, many steaming, sweaty sex, arrests and various unspoilt business deals.
The only real Wildcard in the entire show is Davis’ ex-wife Paula Jo (Meta Golding), who comes in a silver Porsche in the city and takes on the highest rigid Louboutins at her feet. Although she initially seems vengeful and bad, the audience discovers that everything is not as it seems. Paula Jo’s is one of the few storylines that remains fragmented at the end of season 1, which leaves room for turns when the show is a second season green.
When it comes down to it, “Ransom Canyon” does not offer anything that viewers have not seen or experienced on television (or between the pages of a novel novel). However, this is what makes it such a wonderful watch. From the illegal things to the bar fights, the picturesque landscapes and the beautiful cast, fans who love the rugeness of “Yellowstone” and the romantic charm of “Virgin River” will certainly come in to bing the series. With everything that happens in the world, passion, connection and real escapism exactly what the doctor ordered.
“Ransom Canyon” is now streaming on Netflix.
