‘Love is Blind’ Creator in season 8 pods, music, involved couples not shown

Warning: This story contains spoilers from the first six episodes of season 8 “Love is Blind”, which is now streaming on Netflix.

On the heels of “Love is Blind” to celebrate his fifth birthday, season 8 started on Friday with the first six episodes – almost all of them in the pods for the first time.

In the first half of the season, five pairs are involved after many very serious conversations, including LGBTQ+ Rights and Black Lives Matterions (or lack of, in the case of Ben). For the first time in the history of “Love is blind”, are the most showing conversations between people who not be engaged.

While the first six episodes are now streamed, episodes 7-9 are released on 21, 10-11 February 10-11 on 28 February and the final will fall on March 7. Kinetic content CEO and “Love is blind” maker Chris Coelen breaks up the format, changes the game in the music department and more.

This season spent a lot of time in the pods – six episodes! Was that the plan or was it exactly how the operation worked/what was too good to cut?

It is always how the operation works. We film everything and then we go back and look at how we got there. We put together the pieces. As always we try to choose the stories that resonate and that we are worth telling, because they lean in authenticity. When we first started making the show, the pods were a few episodes. People love the pods. It is crazy to think about season 1, Lauren and Cameron made the unveiling at the end of episode 1. Looking back … that is so fast! But there are real, intense, incredible love stories that unfold in the pods in real fascinating ways. There are incredible love three corners. When we first started making the show, we thought we didn’t have time to tell stories about love trieves. But we now embrace the fact that it is incredibly emotional, dramatic, messy and ambitious.

If you look at the story of Madison, Alex, Mason and Meg in the pods … we have never told a story that has never been removed before. And I think it is really exciting to do that, because people will always ask: ‘What else happened? Who did the date more? “We can never make a show to show everything, but show some other things that happen in the pods, is just incredibly entertaining. I could probably make 30 episodes of pods and it would be fascinating.

I ask this every season: were there couples who were engaged that you could not follow this time?

There were two other couples that we did not follow.

Lauren O’Brien and Molly Mulaney in episode 805.
Thanks to Netflix

This season started with Vanessa Lachey and said there are more people here than ever. How did you find a way to tell the number of stories you did?

We have told more stories than we have ever told. This season we told the stories of 16 people, which is why we have more POD episodes.

It seems that this season, the participants seem to be a little more mature and more aware that there are mutual connections, situations of the Triangle type type. Is that an evolution that you have noticed?

Well, it all depends on the group of people. You see a season as a Seattle, which I think was one of the most mature seasons we had. But it was also the season of the average girls with Micah and Irina. People assumed that producers lounge drama orchestrated and we were not. My point is that two things can be true – one of the most mature seasons and there was also a very young thing in the pods. Every group of people has its own atmosphere. This was a real supporting group.

I have to say, you have raised the music competition this season – We had a great Billie Eilish Needle drop. Was that a conscious change?

Naturally! It is our fifth birthday and music has always been such a large part of the show. We decided to lean creatively on celebrating the Great Love songs – not all, there is of course no way to get every great love song in it. But we have many great love songs. There are many songs that we talked about that we have not had the opportunity to use that I hope that we will do that in the future seasons. So much of our experiences about love come from love songs and music. It is suggestive for our feelings. Being able to include some of these great songs and great artists in the show, is really exciting, and hopefully an elevated, entertaining experience for the public.

What was it like in Minneapolis compared to recent seasons?

I thought it was great. Many of the participants feel that, although there are many people who live in the metropolitan area of the Twin Cities, but it has a feeling of a small city. Many people know many people. Fortunately no one knew each other, but there are some connections that you will see. In general I think it’s great and we would like to go back at some point. It was a great group and has everything that the greatest ‘love is blind’ seasons.
