‘Squid Game’ actor Gong Yoo to shine in Netflix’s ‘Show Business’

Netflix is ​​expanding his Korean content -LEI with “Show Business” (working title), a radical drama that takes place against the background of the entertainment industry of South Korea from the 1960s to the 1980s. The series of stars brings together some of the most celebrated actors in Korea.

The drama follows min-ja (song), a determined woman who overcomes a difficult childhood to perform her path in the growing music scene of Korea. Song, fresh from her turn in Lunar New Year release “Dark Nuns” leads the ensemble cast alongside “Squid Game” star Gong Yoo, who portrays her childhood friend Dong -Guu. The deep-rooted band of their characters is tested while together navigating through the murderous entertainment world, with the character of Gong described as unpredictable and yet unique to the influence of min-yes.

“Light Shop” star Kim Seol-Hyun joins the cast as a min-hui, whose complex relationship with Min-ja develops from juvenile to a nuanced rivalry. Cha Seung-Won (“Uprising”) takes on the role on Gil-Yeo, a legendary composer who is known for his golden touch when creating stars. Lee Hanee (“The Fiery Priest”) completed the main cast as Yang-Ja, Min-Ja’s mother, whose own dreams of star sterom persist despite the hardships of life.

Behind the camera, the series Noh Hee-Gyoung (“Our Blues”) brings together as a writer and Lee Yoon-Jung (“Coffee Prince”) as a director. The announcement comes while Netflix continues to dominate with Korean content, with “trauma code: Heroes on Call” who currently leads the global non-English rankings of the platform above season 2 of “Squid Game”, which has fallen in second place.
