Zach Braff and Donald Faison return

Call, Dr. J.D. Dorian.

A teaser has been released for the revival series “Scrubs,” which sees Zach Braff return to Sacred Heart as JD, 15 years after the original comedy ended in the hospital. Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke – who both appear alongside Braff in the teaser – also reprise their roles as Dr. Christopher Turk and Dr. Elliot Reid.

The official logline for the ‘Scrubs’ reboot reads: “JD (Braff) and Turk (Faison) reunite for the first time in a long time. Medicine has changed, the interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. New and old characters navigate the waters of the Sacred Heart with laughter, passion and a few surprises along the way.”

New cast members entering Sacred Heart include Vanessa Bayer, Joel Kim Booster, Ava Bunn, Jacob Dudman, David Gridley, Layla Mohammadi and Amanda Morrow. Other returning cast members include Robert Maschio, Phill Lewis, Judy Reyes and John C. McGinley.

“Scrubs” premiered in 2001 on NBC, where the series aired for seven seasons before being canceled. ABC then picked it up for an eighth season. Although season 8 was intended to conclude the series, the network later greenlit a ninth season, subtitled “Scrubs: Med School,” which left only McGinley and Faison as series regulars. Braff appeared in six of the season’s thirteen episodes.

“Scrubs” alumni Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra serve as executive producers and showrunners on the revival of the series. Other executive producers include Braff, Faison, Chalke, Randall Winston, Bill Lawrence via Doozer, Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. 20th Television is the studio.
