You can now talk to Google Photos to make your edits

On Wednesday made by Google event, the company announced new functions in Google photos with which users can ask the app to edit their photos for them. The functionality is first launched on Pixel 10 devices in the US, so that people can describe all the operations they want to take on the photo with voice or text.

Google also adds support C2PA -Content references In Google photos. The Pixel 10 telephones are the first of Google to assume this standard, which is designed to improve transparency around how images are made and whether AI is involved. C2PA is supported on pixel devices with the camera app itself and on photos that are taken with it, even if AI is not used.

The new function “Edit by asking” in Google photos uses Gemini, so that you can ask for changes to a photo using a natural language. For example, you can say things like “remove the cars in the background”, or a little less specific, such as “Restore this old photo” and Google photos will take action. The addition can help people who are not so technically skilled or have a good understanding of processing tools to still make adjustments to improve their photos.

The function can be tasks such as lighting adjustments and the removal of distractions from the images, as well as more creative operations, such as changing the background or adding items to the photo. Google suggests that you can use this to add sunglasses and a party hat to the subject of the photo, for example.

Even if you don’t know what to ask, you can start with a request for help such as “Make it better” and Google photos will automatically make changes to the image. The app can also offer suggestions for what to repair and supports follow -up requests while continuing to refine your operations.

Google says that the support for C2PA will first come to Pixel 10 devices and then gradually roll out to Google Photos in iOS and Android in the coming weeks. “Edit by asking” launches Wednesday.
