Several women have come forward and claimed so sexually abused by the Egyptian magnate at his Knightsbridge department store, as well as at his other properties in Britain and during business trips abroad.

A royal source said: “If Diana had married Dodi, which she seriously considered, Mohamed would have been the boys’ step-grandfather, so this goes very deep.

‘It caused them enormous sadness to think that their mother was in love with someone whose father was in reality an absolute monster.

“Of course no one had any idea about it at the time, but it is still truly horrific.”
