Why William doesn’t want to strip Beatrice and Eugenie of their royal titles

Prince William has privately drawn a firm line on speculation that he could one day revoke the titles of his cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. In doing so, he makes it clear that the sisters will not pay the price for their father’s disgrace as he pushes for modernization and stabilization of the monarchy.

RadarOnline.com can reveal that the 43-year-old Prince of Wales sees the consequences of ex-Prince Andrew’s association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein as a closed chapter in terms of liability.

Prince William ruled out that Beatrice and Eugenie would be stripped of their titles.

Andrew, 65, is now known only as Andrew Windsor since he was stripped of his royal titles and public roles, effectively ending his life as a working royal.

But William and King Charles III, 77, both continue to hold Andrew’s daughters in high esteem.

Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 35, have retained their princess titles and Her Royal Highness styles and continue to be part of the wider royal family, including invitations to major gatherings such as Christmas at Sandringham, even though their parents have been excluded.

A source told us: “William is not going to add to Andrew’s scandal by stripping Beatrice and Eugenie of their titles, and he has great sympathy for the way they have been caught in their mess.”

But he has told his aides that he will not tar them with the same brush and that he certainly will not strip them of any royal title if he takes the throne.

“His mission is to fight tooth and nail to clean up the monarchy, and keeping them on side as part of a group of younger working royals will be part of his succession.”

Biographer says sisters were never in danger

The Prince of Wales protected his nephews from their father’s scandal.

Royal biographer Robert Jobson has also been explicit about William’s position. Of the York sisters, he said, “There was never any doubt about their titles.”

Jobson added that William intends to include them in the future form of the monarchy, stressing: “His position is direct, Beatrice and Eugenie should not be punished for their father’s alleged sins.”

Jobson also suggested that the Prince of Wales has little interest in prolonging the controversy surrounding his shamed uncle.

“Those close to him say he is fed up with the hysteria surrounding Andrew,” Jobson wrote. ‘The outrage. The noise. The moral greatness.’

While Charles took decisive action with William’s support, Jobson emphasized that the responsibility lies solely with Andrew, saying, “The responsibility lies with Andrew, not his daughters.”

The biographer also described William’s thinking as pragmatic and principled.

“William is not interested in reopening old wounds,” he said. “His focus is on the future, and forward goes for the York sisters as well.” According to him, a streamlined monarchy still needs reliable supporting figures.

“A slimmed-down monarchy still needs depth. Beatrice and Eugenie bring steadfastness, purpose and no theatrics,” Jobson said, adding that the princesses’ understated approach has won them respect.

“Their restraint has earned silent public respect,” he declared.

Other royal commentators echo that assessment. Richard Fitzwilliams said the aftermath of Windsor’s demise has been especially painful for his daughters.

“This will be a very painful period for the sisters because their parents will probably both languish in public disgrace, and they will,” he said, noting that the Yorks have traditionally been “a close-knit family.”

William included the sisters in plans for a modern monarchy.

He described Beatrice and Eugenie as “established as a duo with a constructive range.”

Sources close to the family also point to William’s personal relationship with his cousins.

An insider said the Prince of Wales and the sisters are “closer than many cousins”, citing their shared upbringing in what the source described as “a very unusual life”.

The insider added: “They are all part of the same institution, even if their roles within it look different.

“What unites them is a shared belief in its future and a genuine desire to contribute in any way possible.”

According to another insider, Charles is equally determined that his nieces must be protected from the consequences of Windsor’s actions.

The source said the king cherishes Beatrice and Eugenie “with the highest regard and affection” and wants to protect them from the consequences.

They added: “Beatrice and Eugenie are widely seen as assets to the royal family. They bear no responsibility for the situation they find themselves in, the consequences stem entirely from the actions of their parents.”
