What Happened Between Kate Beckinsale and Matt Rife at the Golden Globes?
Kate Beckinsale and ex Matt Rife reconnected at an afterparty for the 2025 Golden Globes, but it didn’t go beyond a brief conversation.
“They are friendly exes who have nice conversations and laugh and have fun,” a rep for 51-year-old Beckinsale said We weekly after the awards ceremony on Sunday, January 5.
On Monday, January 6, rumors swirled that the duo — who briefly dated in 2017 — were spotted kissing at a Golden Globes after-party, but Beckinsale’s rep notes that this “didn’t happen.”
Beckinsale and Rife, 29, both attended the Netflix party at Spago in Beverly Hills. The Underworld actress later stopped by a soirée at Chateau Marmont, where she was spotted posing Paris Jackson And Gentlemen star Harry Goodwins.

Beckinsale and Rife dated for a year after dating in 2017. After their divorce, the actress sparked a romance with Pete Davidson in 2019. Rife made headlines at the time for telling Davidson, 31, to “run” and describing his relationship with Beckinsale as “complicated.”
‘Enjoy it while you can. I hope they’re both happy, I hope it can grow into an established, good relationship,” Rife told TMZ in March 2019. “I wish them both the best. I hope they are happy. I don’t really have any good advice, but be careful.
Years later, Rife admitted that he regretted his comments about Beckinsale.
“I gave that advice because I was only speaking from personal experience, being together and finding out we weren’t the most compatible match,” he shared. Elle in September 2023. “I wanted to make sure that they were both careful with their emotions and didn’t get into something that they wouldn’t do, that wouldn’t work out either.”

He also publicly apologized to both Davidson and Beckinsale, saying he had been a “little jerk” about the situation.
“I’m sorry I said that. Pete, if you’re there, sorry I said that. Kate, I’m sorry I said that too. “I shouldn’t have said that,” he said. “I gave the advice to be careful because I just got out of a relationship with someone [where] Unfortunately, I found out that we weren’t right for each other. And I always want people to, you know, protect their emotions and personal feelings.
Prior to her affairs with Rife and Davidson, Beckinsale was married Len Wisemanwhom she married in 2004. The duo split in 2015 and finalized their divorce in 2019.
Beckinsale was previously dated Michael Sheen from 1995 to 2003. The former couple share daughter Lily Mo, 25.
