Wendy Raquel Robinson Set for Recurring Role on ‘Poppa’s House’
Wendy Raquel Robinson (“The Game,” “The Steve Harvey Show”) has been cast in a recurring role on the new CBS sitcom “Poppa’s House,” starring father-son duo Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr.
According to the official logline for the series: “Legendary talk radio host and happily divorced ‘Poppa’ (Wayans) is challenged at work when a new female co-host (Essence Atkins) is hired, and at home where he discovers he still takes care of himself. always for his adult son (Wayans Jr.), a brilliant dreamer trying to pursue his passion while being a responsible father and husband.
Robinson will play Poppa’s ex-wife and Junior’s mother. Additional confirmed cast for the series includes Tetona Jackson as Nina, Junior’s wife.
In the sitcom “The Game,” Robinson played Tasha Mack, the mother and manager of Malik Wright (Hosea Chanchez), a star football quarterback on a fictional professional football team. She also played director Regina Grier-Maddox on “The Steve Harvey Show.”
Robinson has appeared in films such as ‘Two Can Play at That Game’, Martin Lawrence’s ‘A Thin Line Between Love and Hate’ and ‘Miss Congeniality’.
The actor made her debut in 1993 in an episode of ‘Martin’ and later guested on shows such as ‘The Sinbad Show’, ‘Thea’, ‘All of Us’ and ‘The Parkers’. Off-screen, Robinson co-founded the Amazing Grace Conservatory, a school dedicated to the arts for young people in Los Angeles. She is artistic director of the conservatory, which she founded together with the late actor Tracy Lamar Coley.
