Visit Maldives revives Maldivian night at ITB Berlin 2026 | News


Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) yesterday welcomed tourism partners and industry leaders to the return of Maldivian Night in Berlin, marking one of the key highlights of the destination’s presence at ITB Berlin 2026.

Held March 4 at The Ritz-Carlton, Berlinthe exclusive event brought together by invitation tour operators, airline partners, travel agencies, media representatives and tourism stakeholders to celebrate the Maldives’ partnerships with the European travel industry.

After several years of hiatus, the revival of Maldivian Night marked a renewed effort by Visit Maldives to strengthen its commitment to one of its key source markets. The evening served as a platform to reconnect with key industry partners and reaffirm collaboration in promoting the Maldives as one of the world’s leading luxury island destinations.

The event was co-organized in collaboration with Bank of Maldives (BML) and also set the stage for the unveiling of BML Swipe, a new digital payment solution designed to improve ease of transaction on the islands and support seamless visitor experiences.

Maldivian Night was part of Visit Maldives’ wider participation ITB Berlin 2026which takes place from March 3 to 5 at the Messe Berlin, the world’s largest travel fair. The Maldives also presents a national pavilion under the brand “Maldives… The sunny side of life,” showcasing the destination’s diversity and strengthening business partnerships and market engagement.

Visit Maldives is also preparing to organize one high-level international press conference during the event, where a major announcement regarding the destination’s tourism strategy is expected as the Maldives builds momentum towards it Visit Maldives Year 2027.

Europe continues to play a crucial role in the Maldives’ tourism performance. In In 2025, Germany recorded 167,822 arrivalsmaking it among the destination’s top source markets, while Switzerland and Austria are also among the top 15 markets worldwide.

Through its expanded presence at ITB Berlin 2026, Visit Maldives aims to strengthen strategic alliances, increase global visibility and strengthen the Maldives’ position as premium, sustainable and future-oriented tourist destination.

Visit Maldives has also achieved significant international recognition, achieving several top accolades at the 2025 World Travel Awards. The destination was named The world’s top destination 2025 And The world’s leading green destination 2025highlighting both its global appeal and its commitment to sustainable tourism. In addition, the Maldives were recognized as The Indian Ocean’s top destination in 2025 And The Indian Ocean’s top green destination by 2025cementing its reputation as one of the most sought-after travel destinations in the world. These awards also reflect the country’s strong commitment to environmental stewardship, with many resorts and tourism initiatives actively supporting marine conservation, coral restoration and sustainable tourism practices that help protect the island’s fragile ecosystem while improving visitor experiences.
