Valerie Bertinelli says that Bonnie Franklin sent me to a therapist ‘
The family relationship between Valerie Bertinelli and her TV mother, Bonnie Franklin, extended what happened on the set of “One Day at a Time”.
During a recent appearance on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’, Bertinelli, who was only 15 when she joined ‘one day at the same time’, said Franklin, who died in 2013 at the age of 69, helped help with her decreasing mental health while photographing the 1975 sitcom.
“I mean, I finally went to Bonnie by the time I turned 20 and said,” I’m struggling, “Bertinelli remembered.” And she could see that I had a hard time and she sent me to a psychiatrist. She sent me to a therapist. ”
“Your mother on TV Momat and sent you to therapy?” Asked Drew Barrymore. Bertinelli replied: “Yes.”
The anecdote of Bertinelli came from a larger conversation about Ariana Grande, who recently said that studios and labels should include therapy in their clients’ contracts.
“Ariana is absolutely perfect,” said Bertinelli. “I think people absolutely need that support.”
“These are the people who have the lived experience,” added Barrymore, who has also been famous from a young age. “So I don’t feel that she would say these things for sensationalism or justice, she says them in advocacy to support people.”
“One day at a time”, which ran from 1975 to 1984, was broadcast 209 episodes in nine seasons. In the lead role Franklin, Bertinelli, Pat Harrington Jr. And Mackenzie Phillips, the show followed the “setbacks of a divorced mother, her family and their building -superintendent in Indianapolis”, according to the official logline.
