TV series ‘Barbershop’ adds 8 players to cast, including Zack Fox and Ego Nwodim

Amazon Prime Video’s TV series “Barbershop” has added eight new actors in guest roles, Variety has learned.

The new additions are: Pocket Fox (“Abbott Elementary,” “The Vince Staples Show”) as Councilman Warren; Ego Nwodim (“Saturday Night Live,” “Poker Face”) as Shelly-Ann; Diallo riddle (“South Side,” “Sherman’s Showcase”) as Pastor Devante; Ziwe (“Ziwe,” “Dickinson”) as Abbi; Titus Burgess (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” “Schmigadoon”) as Juan Grillz; Comedian CP (“Sunday After Six,” “How to Die Alone”) as Marvin; Devon Walker (“Saturday Night Live,” “Big Mouth”) as Southside Swole; and Belmont Cameli (“Saved by the Bell,” “Alto Knights”) as Shep.

The new additions appear alongside series regulars Jermaine Fowler, Brett Gray, Punkie Johnson, Roy Wood Jr. and E.J. Bonilla. Returning cast members include Bokeem Woodbine, Bresha Webb, Langston Kerman and Tiana Okoye.

According to the official logline, the show follows Travis “Trav” Porter (Fowler), “as he attempts to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, a legendary barber at the iconic Calvin’s barbershop in Chicago. And while the barbers are new, the shop remains just as vibrant, the customers just as argumentative, and the fades are still the dopest in town — because at Calvin’s, the community comes together for much more than just a haircut.”

Marshall Todd, who co-wrote the original film, is writing the series, executive producing and co-showrunning. Max Searle will also executive produce and serve as co-showrunner. Kevin Hart, Bryan Smiley and Mike Stein are executive producers through Hartbeat Productions, along with Bradley Gardner of Busy B Entertainment, Cameron Burnett and Autumn Bailey-Ford for Prominent Productions and George Tillman Jr. and Robert Teitel for State Street Pictures. Tiffany Brown will serve as co-executive producer for Hartbeat. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios.
