Trump brags about blocking SNAP and canceling flights

“Saturday Night Live” went straight to President Trump in the cold open for this week’s episode, with James Austin Johnson’s commander-in-chief bragging from the Oval Office about the ongoing government shutdown, which has been dragging on since Oct. 1.
“The Supreme Court said we can stop feeding poor people. You can clap for that. SNAP!” Trump said. “For those of you who can afford food, no, you can’t. I promised grocery prices would drop and they did. They plummeted right away. People say, ‘But sir, how can I afford my Thanksgiving turkey for my family? Well, good news is your family isn’t coming because all the planes are gone.'”
The cold open refers to that of the Supreme Court pronunciation On Friday, a lower court order that would have required the Trump administration to restore food stamp benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program was paused.
“Anyway, the government is still shut down, all thanks to the Democrats And some Republicans And all Republicans And me,” Trump continued. “We’re going to make sure the government stays closed. We’re investigating if we can steal Christmas. We do Grinch. I love the Grinch. He’s a great guy.”
The skit also began with a replay of an incident on Thursday involving an Oval Office guest collapsed during Trump’s announcement of a program to reduce the cost of weight loss drugs.
“I didn’t see you there. There was someone dying in my office,” Trump began. “I think I play this very normally. Just stand there and stare like a sociopath.”
The Nov. 8 episode of “Saturday Night Live” was hosted by Nikki Glaser, with musical guest Sombr.
