A statement from the Trailer park guys team confirmed that Smith had “stepped down” from his role as president of their production company, Trailer Park Boys Inc.
“We are aware of the allegations regarding Mike Smith from 2017 and take such matters seriously,” a statement from Trailer Park Boys Inc. said. “We recognize how difficult an allegation of this nature is for everyone involved. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not be commenting further on the matter.”
Smith played Bubbles in over 100 episodes of Trailer park guys since its premiere in April 2001, in addition to reprising his role in four feature-length spin-off films and Netflix’s Trailer Park Boys: The Animated Series. (The original Parker Boys Trailer show was itself a filmmaker spin-off Mike Clattenburgshort films.)
In April, Term reported that Smith and other veteran Trailer park guys cast members reunited to create season 13 after a seven-year hiatus. Despite Smith’s legal troubles, a representative for Trailer Park Boys Inc CBC News that the production team was still “focused on delivering the highly anticipated 13th season for our fans.”

Smith strongly denied the allegations, saying in a statement at the time: “Georgia is a friend of mine and we had a loud and heated dispute. That’s all. I never assaulted her. I am not guilty of the crime charged against me.”
In the aftermath of his arrest, Smith’s longtime costar Lucy DeCoutere announced that she was leaving her Trailer park guys role. (DeCoutere had been part of the sitcom’s cast since 2001, playing a character also named Lucy.)
“If I find out someone is abusive, I cut them out of my life. It’s very easy,” DeCoutere, 55, tweeted in April 2016. “I resigned from my life. Trailer park guys.” (She later said it was “no bad feelings” between her and the Trailer park guys form.)
Ling, the alleged victim in the case, released a statement in April 2016 denying any abuse occurred.
“Mike and I did have a big argument, but it makes me sad the way things are reported and the way the police are handling it,” she said. “At no point did I feel like I was in danger or I would have called the police myself, which I did not do. The police were called by others who were not in the room and who were wrongly led to believe that the argument was something other than what it was. When the officers arrived I tried to reassure them that there was no real problem, but they proceeded to arrest Mike.”
Spokesperson for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office Frank Mateljan attached to CBC News in May 2016 that no charges would be filed “because [a] lack of sufficient evidence.”
