Tonya Harding Mourning mourns for the loss of the victims killed in the collision of the American Airlines passenger plane with an army helicopter in Washington DC

The former figure skater, 54, took to social media On Thursday, January 30, to share her destruction about the tragic crash, in which more than 60 people – including at least 14 professional American and international figure skaters – are feared.

“The events that took place in Washington DC last night are absolutely devastating”, she posted through her Instagram account. “I was told that members of the American figure skating team were on board, as well as international professional figure skaters and some family members.”

Harding concluded: “I send my love and prayers to all victims and their families.”

Harding is known for its controversial history with former rival for skating of figure skating Nancy Kerriganwho was attacked in 1994 by a man who was hired by the ex-husband of Harding Jeff Gillooly. The controversy was later converted into the 2017 film Me, Tonyain which Harding was depicted by Margot Robbie.

Kerrigan also responded to the Washington DC plane crash on Thursday, January 30.

The accident occurred when the flight collided with a Black Hawk helicopter from the US Army when it tried to land on Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Emergency officials have recovered 28 bodies from Thursday 30 January and it is not assumed that they are survivors. The plane, Flight 5342 from American Airlines, wore 60 passengers and four crew members. The helicopter kept three American soldiers.
