Tom Brady says it ‘sucks’ to be his son, admits I ‘screwed up a lot’
Tom Brady talks about the challenges of parenthood.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion, 47, admitted that being his son probably “sucks” because his children will be compared to him and his illustrious NFL legacy later in life.
“To be a boy, [it] It sucks being Tom Brady’s son in so many ways,” Brady said during an appearance at the Fortune Global Forum in New York City on Tuesday, November 12, according to footage published by TMZ. “There are a lot of challenges that I faced as a kid…my kids obviously face their own challenges, and they have to figure out how to overcome them. I will be there to support them and learn with them along the way.”
Brady shares son Jack, 17, with ex Bridget Moynahan and son Benjamin, 14, with his ex-wife, Gisele Bundchen. Brady and Bündchen are also parents to daughter Vivian, 11.

The former NFL quarterback said Jack aspires to be a basketball player, but joked that “unfortunately he jumps as high as I do.”
But that hasn’t stopped Brady from encouraging his son to pursue his passion, just like his parents did for him.
“Whatever our children choose… we must support them [them]” said Brady. “The blessings that my parents gave me was when I was that far along as a kid and was a backup quarterback on a freshman team… they never said, ‘Man, don’t do that. It’ll be too hard. Let’s do something different. Let’s think about another backup plan.’ They were like, ‘You know what, go for it. Whatever you want to be, go for it.’ And that’s probably my parenting style.”
He continued, “I’ll tell [Jack]“Dude, you’re going to be a stud.” I said, ‘Wait until you hit your growth spurt, you’re going to jump higher, you’re going to dunk.’ Whether he does or not, who cares? But I want him to know that his father has his back.”
Brady also said that he has “messed up a lot as a parent” over the years, but that he tries to be “reliable and consistent” with his “three great kids.”
