‘Today’ co-host Savannah Guthrie ‘Panics’ as ratings rise during furlough

“Savannah is in complete panic. While she was away because of the vocal problem, the ratings went up,” an insider said of the stressed presenter.

The former lawyer “is now pushing her doctors to get her back to work as soon as possible. And so the public doesn’t forget her, she’s pushing for the show to include a segment about her recovering at home.”

To remind viewers that she still exists, Guthrie appeared remotely from her home during the show Today‘s Morning Boost segment on Tuesday, January 20.

She told her colleagues and viewers, “I’m still on voice rest, but I’m allowed to talk for five to 10 minutes every hour,” as she debuted her new voice.

Weatherman Al Roker joked that after the nodes were removed from her vocal cords, Guthrie’s voice “sounds the same.” However, Melvin, 46, assured his cohost, “You sound significantly better!”
