Matt, 26, and Abby, 25, shared their holiday with sons Griffin, 2, and August, 12 months, via Instagram earlier this week.
“So we ended up taking them for five nights and it became clear they weren’t enjoying it and neither were we,” Abby wrote in a has since expired Instagram story. “So then we changed our dinner time to AFTER their bedtime and FaceTIMED the monitors while we ate.”
She continued: “And that turned out much better for everyone!”

Despite coming up with a solution to keep an eye on their sons while they enjoyed dinner, Matt and Abby were met with a wave of outrage on social media.
“Why is no one talking about Matt and Abby letting their kids sleep alone in their cruise cabins while they eat dinner?!?! Who cares,” one social media user wrote via X.
Another added: “Everything I learned about Matt and Abby on TikTok is against my will, but everything I learn just keeps getting worse.”

Social media users were angry that the couple left their children unattended while exploring on a huge cruise ship. Neither Matt nor Abby have publicly addressed the backlash.
Prior to the scandal, Abby had posted additional stories and photos about the trip on Instagram. As of Sunday, September 15, all uploads have been removed from her page.
The Howards have been together since high school and eventually married in July 2019 before welcoming their sons. Since becoming parents, the “Unplanned” podcast hosts have shared their relationship and the highs and lows of their parenthood via social media.
“We want the focus to be on us and how we handle parenting, instead of just focusing on Griffin,” Abby said. By constantly talking and always prioritizing us and our family, we will continue to do this.”
Matt agreed, noting that their family is their No. 1 priority compared to their careers.
“If you would have told me three years ago that this would be our life, I would have laughed,” Matt explained to the outlet. “We used to dream of working together one day and now it’s happening and it’s the best thing ever.”
