This American state to launch very first international flight! And it is to cancel

Will Rogers World Airport (OKC) from Oklahoma City will reach a historic milestone this fall, as American Airlines introduce The very first non-stop international route of the airport. From November 8, 2025, travelers can fly directly to Cancun, Mexico (CUN) for a new service on Saturday.
Previously required international journeys for Oklahomans connecting flights via larger hubs. This new route eliminates that inconvenience, which offers a more efficient option for holidaymakers, families and business travelers. The flight works weekly up to and including April 4, 2026, using a Boeing 737 aircraft.
“This milestone is proof of the Renaissance of our city, as well as a reflection of our willingness to invest in ourselves,” said mayor of Oklahoma City, David Holt. “This would not have been possible without the vision of our leadership of the airport … our gratitude to them, as well as American Airlines.”
Cancun remains a top destination that is known for its white sandy beaches, turquoise waters and maya heritage. The route is expected to appeal to a wide range of travelers, from families and couples to students during the spring break.
The international service is the result of years of cooperation between the Oklahoma City Airport Trust and local stakeholders. A key factor in securing the route was the recent completion of a federal inspection station, which made customs processing for international arrivals possible.
Tickets are available from Monday 31 March via the American Airlines website.
