‘The Voice’ appoints Joe Walsh and Zac Brown as mega-mentors for season 28

Season 28 of The Voice has tapped Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Joe Walsh and Grammy winner Zac Brown as the new mega-mentors for the season.

Brown, the leader of the Zac Brown Band, will make his “Voice” debut alongside coaches Michael Bublé and Snoop Dogg. Walsh will work with coaches Niall Horan and Reba McEntire. Both enter the season as the remaining performers prepare for the knockouts, which begin on October 27.

Walsh is known for his time as a member of The Eagles, as well as hits such as ‘Life’s Been Good’, ‘Rocky Mountain Way’, ‘Life in the Fast Lane’ and ‘Funk #49’. During his time with The Eagles, Walsh won five Grammy Awards.

Brown is a three-time Grammy winner, while the Zac Brown Band has had six consecutive albums reach the Billboard Top 10. The band has also had five consecutive albums debut at number one on the Billboard Country Albums chart. They have sold 10.8 million albums to date.

Each coach will enter the knockouts with eight artists, with no saves or steals in this round of the competition. Only coaches will choose the winner from their team to advance to the Playoffs, the final round before the live shows. This season’s Knockouts will also feature the first ever ‘Mic Drop’ button, given to each coach to use on a performer from their respective teams whose performance they deem worthy. Viewers at home will have the opportunity to vote for the winner of the “Mic Drop” out of four. The artist with the most votes will receive a live performance during The Rose Parade on January 1, 2026.
