The tragic gap that cracks comic legends Monty Python revealed

Eric Idle has stated that there is “no hope” of a Monty Python reunion, after revealing a long-flocking gap with fellow commercial giant John Cleese who left the couple and fans deeply sad, deeply, Radaronline.com can reveal.
Idle, 82, who has just started a British theater tour, said he had not seen Cleese, 85, for ten years and no longer believes they can work together.

Once inseparable members of the legendary comedy group, the fight of the couple almost ended, the hope of the surviving pythons that are reunited on stage.
“I think that ship sailed – and sunk, actually,” said Idle. “I made three tours with John Cleese, and he seemed completely nice, and now he doesn’t seem like that fun. I don’t know why. I haven’t seen him for 10 years. So I don’t really know what’s going on.
“Am I disturbed? No, I am not bothered, because what can I do? People say why is he so angry? I don’t know. He has his own life, I have my own life, and it’s a nice life.”

Together Idle and Cleese helped to define the British comedy again in the late 1960s with Monty Python’s Flying Circus. Besides Michael Palin, 82, Terry Gilliam, 84, and the late Graham Chapman and Terry Jones, the group went to make Monty Python and the Holy Grail And Life of Brian – Films that remain staples of satire.
Idle, who also created the Tony-winning theater musical Spamalotsaid that Chapman’s death in 1989 and Jones had reduced the group in 2020.
“There is no terry, there is no Graham – the nicer have disappeared. It is true. So I don’t think there is hope,” he said.
A source close to the comedian told us: “Python fans were destroyed by this gap. They know that they will never see the remaining line-up on stage again, and that is entirely because of the feud between Eric and John.
“That division has been reinforced by disputes about money. Idle has long been complaining about royalties from Spamalot who has divided six ways among surviving members and the estates of Chapman and Jones.”

“They have more f ——- money than they have ever been grateful. They have f ——millions and they are miserable and terrible,” he said.
In 2014, the survivor Pythons reunited for a short time Monty Python Live (usually): one down, five to goA run of ten nights in the O2 Arena in London. Inactive co-written and directed the shows, but the relationships then soured, and tries to work together again.
“It’s sad,” said another source. “Eric and John were once the nearest colleagues, and people always hoped for another big night with them all together. But that now looks impossible.”

Idle thinks AI will have an impact on the future of Monty Python
Idle has suggested that the future of Python can be in technology instead of reconciliation.
“Everyone will eventually be replaced by AI,” he said. “I am sure there will be an AI Monty Python at some point, because let’s be honest, John Cleese can no longer take the foolish walk.”
Despite the tension, Idle continues to embrace his comic legacy. His new show, Always look at the positive side of life, liveContains songs, sketches and personal stories, ending with a performance in Royal Albert Hall in London.
Idle said: “I have rough songs. I am a bit on the dirty side. There is also a fart, but of course it is a philosophical fart. My role in life seems to cheer people.”
