The main reason why Jacob Elordi is ‘completely wrong’ about the role in Bond

Historically, Bond actors were tall, but not towering. Sean Connery, Timothy Dalton and George Lazenby were all about 6 feet tall, while Craig was 6 feet tall. In Ian Fleming’s novels, Bond is described as being six feet tall with dark hair, a detail that producers have long treated with only slight flexibility.

The franchise’s tallest performers have tended to be villains, including Christopher Lee at 6-foot-1, Geoffrey Holder at 6-foot-1 and Richard Kiel, who played Jaws at 7-foot-4.

Another film source said: “It is recognized within the studio that Jacob brings tremendous value, star power, intensity and a striking screen presence. But some believe these qualities could be even more powerful if channeled into a formidable opponent rather than the spy himself. His stature and brooding edge could create a truly memorable villain.”

The insider added: “Overall, this is a transitional period for Bond. With Amazon MGM steering the ship and Denis Villeneuve setting the creative tone, every decision carries symbolic weight. Putting someone as physically unconventional as Jacob at the helm would send a very strong message about reinvention. The question being asked internally is whether that kind of dramatic visual shift is visionary, or a risk the franchise can’t afford at such a crucial time.”
