The Los Angeles District Attorney officially files papers asking the court to order Menendez Bros

The Menendez brothers are one step closer to a possible release from prison… because the Los Angeles District Attorney just filed the document officially asking a judge to retaliate.

DA George Gascon filed the motion just minutes ago… asking a judge to change the brothers’ sentence from life without the possibility of parole to life with the possibility of parole. Because of the time they have served, they could potentially be released from prison immediately.

It’s a long document… but basically what the Public Prosecution Service says Erik And Lyle They were honest prisoners who no longer pose a risk to public safety. So there is no reason to keep them locked up.

The prosecutor points to programs – such as Erik’s Life Care and Connections organization that provides support to disabled and elderly inmates, as well as VIVE an organization. dedicated to victim impact and empathy – involving one or both brothers, demonstrating how the DA feels they have put time and effort into improving their prison community.

They also mention Erik and Lyle’s criminal files, which show that they were only written up eight and five times in the more than thirty years of their captivity.

The prosecutor also points to their ages… saying that not only were they young when they killed their parents, but they are now over 50 years old – so the chances of them committing another crime have been greatly reduced.

Not all victims of the brothers’ crimes are happy with their release, the prosecutor noted, citing an uncle of the brothers who does not want them released. However, the prosecutor says that many other family members have called for their release – which must be taken into account.

Gascón announced he would calls for the release of Erik and Lyle earlier today… they said the two paid their debt to society. There will be a hearing at the end of November.
