The holiday edition of SNL features The Grinch, Scrooge and more

“Saturday Night Live” unveiled their own version of Variety‘Actors on Actors’ series on the December 13 episode of the late night sketch show.

The “SNL” version was dubbed “Characters on Characters” and invited some iconic holiday favorites to interact – including a discussion between Rudolph (host Josh O’Connor) and A Partridge in a Pear Tree (Bowen Yang); The Grinch (Mikey Day) and Scrooge (James Austin Johnson); Little Drummer Boy (Kenan Thompson) and Tiny Tim (Marcello Hernández); and Mrs. Claus (Chloe Fineman) and the grandmother from “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer” (Ashley Padilla).

Spoofing the in-depth conversations about craft that often take place during “Actors on Actors,” the discussions became profound, including Rudolph’s lack of formal training before pulling Santa’s sleigh; the Partridge becomes a “chosen family” at the other Christmas holidays; the Grinch shooting on location in Whoville; Scrooge says he didn’t improve on his iconic words written by Charles Dickens; Little Drummer Boy says his iconic phrase “Pa rum pum pum pum”; Mrs. Claus was concerned that the grandmother was actually dead; and featured many other seasonal pop culture jokes.

O’Connor hosted this week’s episode of “SNL,” with musical guest Lily Allen.

This season’s edition of Actors on Actors features lively conversations between duos like Ariana Grande (“Wicked: For Good”) and Adam Sandler (“Jay Kelly”); Julia Roberts (“After the Hunt”) and Sean Penn (“One Fight After Another”); Dwayne Johnson (“The Smashing Machine”) and Brendan Fraser (“Rental Family”); Oscar Isaac (“Frankenstein”) and Teyana Taylor (“One Fight After Another”); and Jennifer Lawrence (“Die My Love”) and Leonardo DiCaprio (“One Battle After Another”).
