The Golden State Killer’s “micro” sized manhood helped catch Joseph DeAngelo

The former police officer’s reign of terror began in the mid-1970s and the sadistic serial killer went on to murder at least thirteen people, commit numerous rapes, at least 120 burglaries and several attempted murders, lasting until 1986.

DeAngelo proved challenging to track down as his crimes were spread across eleven California counties.

He was living a quiet life in the Sacramento suburb of Citrus Heights, California, when detectives finally cracked the cold case of the Golden State Killer, thanks to forensic genealogy that was unavailable during his twelve-year crime spree. DeAngelo was arrested in April 2018.

“He reminded me of a sloppy grandfather or an alcoholic uncle who you avoided at all costs at Thanksgiving dinner,” Ho told the newspaper. Sacramento Bee prior to the publication of his book, about the moment he first saw DeAngelo after his arrest.

“What did I do?” DeAngelo asked Detective Kenny Clark during questioning as he accused him of the 1979 murder of a young couple who were walking their dog.

‘I don’t remember anything about that. I didn’t do anything,” DeAngelo insisted. “Please let me go home. I can’t remember anything about that anymore. I didn’t do anything.’
