‘The Equalizer’ canceled after five seasons at CBS

CBS has canceled the reboot of “The Equalizer” after five seasons, Variety has learned.
The series, which is led by Queen Latifah, was the last remaining bubble show in the employment network. The season finale that will be broadcast on 4 May will now serve the serial final.
Earlier, CBS had canceled the first -year “Poppa’s House” of the freshmen, both “FBI: International” and “FBI: Most Wanted”. Earlier this season, CBS had also broadcast a backdoor pilot for a potential “Equalizer” spin -that is not progressing either.
The step to cancel “The Equalizer” is not entirely surprising, because the show was also on the bubble last season. It is co -produced by CBS Studios and external Studio Universal Television, making it a less attractive option for CBS, especially this late in the run. The network has also picked up a number of new drama shows for next season, including a new entry in the “FBI” franchise with Tom Ellis (another UTV-COPRODUATION) and the comic pilot “through” to Series. CBS has also ordered the “Fire Country” Spin -Off “Sheriff Country”, as well as the “Blue Bloods” Spin -Ooff “Boston Blue”.
The Matthew Gray Gubler drama “Einstein” was also picked up for next season, but CBS pushed the show earlier this week to the 2026-2027 season.
CBS has previously announced a large number of extensions, including a pick-up of two seasons for comedy “Ghosts” and ordering more seasons of shows such as “Tracker” and “NCIS.”
“The Equalizer” was a reinvestion of the 1980s series, in which Queen Latifah played in the lead as Robyn McCall, a former CIA agent who helped people to turn anywhere else. The cast also includes Tory Kittles, Adam Goldberg, Liza Lapira, Laya Deleon Hayes and Lorraine Toussaint.
The series was devoted for television by Andrew Marlowe and Terri Miller, based on the original series co -created by Richard Lindheim. Joseph C. Wilson, Queen Latifah) Debra Martin Chase, Shakim Compere, John Davis, John Fox, Loretha Jones and Rob Hanning served as executive producers.
