The ‘Declaration of War’ action that Prince Harry has just implemented

Prince Harry’s decision to announce a major overseas trip just as Prince William landed in Brazil for his Earthshot Prize tour has been branded a ‘declaration of war’ by royal insiders – reigniting tensions between the brothers and fueling anger at Kensington Palace.
RadarOnline.com can reveal that the 41-year-old Duke of Sussex will travel to Canada this week to celebrate Remembrance, with appointments planned to overlap directly with William’s five-day environmental tour of South America.
The timing, described by a palace aide as “brazen and deliberate”, has infuriated senior courtiers, who see the move as a calculated act of one-upmanship.
A royal source claimed: “It comes across as if Harry was deliberately picking a fight. Announcing an overlapping foreign trip just as William landed feels like a targeted move. In royal terms, clashing schedules is a serious intrusion, the calendar is being treated almost as a matter of state.”
Another insider added: “It’s hard to see this as a coincidence. Harry would have known William’s tour dates well in advance – they have been set for ages. Whether he intended it or not, the timing indicates he is doing things entirely on his own terms and will not be controlled by the Palace.”
The clash comes as the estranged brothers undertake their first major international appearances of the fall. William, 43, landed in Rio de Janeiro on Monday, November 3 opening the fifth annual Earthshot Prize summit – part of his campaign to defend global sustainability.
He was photographed laughing with local schoolchildren and playing beach volleyball, just as Harry’s California office announced its own high-profile engagements in Toronto, including visits to military charities and a veterans health centre.
A former royal aide claimed Harry’s announcement hit William’s team ‘like a bombshell’. “This week was for William; it was a major focus for the Earthshot project,” the assistant said. “But almost as soon as he started his first event, the attention went straight to Harry. You can guess the reaction: people were furious.”
Harry’s visit, which begins on November 5, will include a lunch with the True Patriot Love Foundation, a meeting at the Veterans Center of the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center and an evening gala with the Halo Trust. It mirrors the format of a traditional royal tour, a move that some insiders say has further riled William’s circle.
“The optics are hard to ignore,” said one palace observer. “One brother officially represents the monarchy abroad, while the other independently leads a similar tour. It blurs the distinction between sanctioned royal duties and private initiative – exactly the kind of confusion the Palace wants to avoid.”
However, Harry’s camp insists there was no attempt to overshadow William’s journey. His spokesperson said the timing was determined by logistical and security constraints, noting that unlike working royals, Harry and Meghan must coordinate their travel through private security advisers.
In a statement, the Duke’s team said: “The events were planned almost a year ago. The date of the main event, the dinner, is set by the charity, not Prince Harry. The commemoration period traditionally runs from November 1 to 11 and has done so for more than a century. He cannot choose to move those dates.”
They added: “In terms of when we can announce these types of trips, we are always guided by the advice given to us by his private security advisors and the event’s security team. The visit, which has been planned for months, marks a return to a city that holds a special place in the Duke’s heart, hosting the Invictus Games in 2017.”
Despite the statement, tensions remain high.
A senior palace figure said: ‘This is not really a matter of blame, it is a matter of respect. These kinds of moves make it almost impossible for William and Harry to find common ground again.”
