The death of Daredevil Felix Baumgartner drops conspiracy theories

In October 2012, millions watched television and internet while the sky diver jumped from a space capsule bound to a helium balloon of 55 floors after it reached a height of 127,000 feet.

It took two hours and 20 minutes to rise to the height of the jump, and when he did, Baumgartner at 843.6 MPH, the equivalent of 1.25 times the speed of the sound, covered nine minutes.

Baumgartner wore an astronaut-like suit under pressure. He was supported by a Mission Control operation in NASA style called Red Bull Stratos at an airport in Roswell, New Mexico, with 300 engineers, scientists and doctors.

“We test new space suits, escape concepts and treatment protocols for pressure loss on extreme heights,” said Red Bull Stratos Medical Director, Dr. ir. Jonathan Clark, who previously supervised The New York Times.
