The Calile Hotel awarded One Key during the first MICHELIN Global Key Award Ceremony | News

The Calile Hotel has been awarded One Key at the MICHELIN Guide Hotels’ first global Key awards ceremony, held in Paris last night, becoming one of the first hotels in Australia to receive this prestigious award.

As described by MICHELIN, One Key identifies “a real gem with personality – where the service always goes the extra mile, and the hotel offers much more than others in its price range.”

In the hotel world, the MICHELIN Key acts as the equivalent of the MICHELIN Star for restaurants, with Three Keys representing the highest possible distinction. The 2025 MICHELIN Keys were first introduced in 2024 in 15 countries across North America, Europe and Asia and have now expanded globally – honoring the world’s leading hotels in the first-ever global unveiling.

In Paris, Catherine Malouf, co-owner of The Calile Hotel, said it was an honor to be recognized as one of the first properties to be part of the expansion into new regions.

“Being awarded a MICHELIN Key at this opening ceremony is an important confirmation of The Calile’s place on the global hospitality industry stage and reflects the dedication of our team, our employees and our loyal guests,” she said.

General Manager Chris Kemlo echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the award recognizes the hotel’s continued commitment to exceptional guest experiences and outstanding service.

“Receiving this award from such a prestigious global organization is an important milestone for The Calile,” said Mr Kemlo. “It reflects our continued drive to exceed expectations and our commitment to creating a meaningful, memorable stay for every guest.”

MICHELIN inspectors base their decisions on five universal criteria:
• Excellence in architecture and interior design
• Quality and consistency of service
• General personality and character
• Value for money
• Contribution to the neighborhood or setting

With Three-Key properties representing the world’s most outstanding hotel experiences, The Calile’s One Key award confirms its status as one of Australia’s true hospitality icons – a destination where design, service and soul come together in perfect harmony.
