2025 has been brutal when it comes to canceling our favorite TV shows. Netflix cut ties with Girls5eva after saving it from cancellation. 5. ‘The Franchise’ (2024)

By Armando Iannucci And Jim Bruin- two of the creatives behind it Veep — This satirical comedy series satirizes “cinematic universes” by offering a behind-the-scenes look at the making of a superhero movie. The fictional film, titled ‘Tecto: Eye of the Storm’, is a lower and less beloved installment of the overarching superhero franchise, and follows characters like a new producer (Aya cash) studio director (Darren Goldstein), first deputy director (Himesh Patel), director (Daniel Brühle) and protagonist (Billy Magnussen) all involved in the chaotic production.

Loaded with funny lines and sharp banter, The franchise is truly a show of the man who gave us Veep. It’s another devastating downturn in the industry that exposes the incompetence of those in power, with hapless characters and caricatures floundering around, barely doing their job. While the low viewership hurts this show, if you’re a fan of biting insults and sharp parody, The franchise is for you.

4. ‘And just like that’ (2021-2025)

In the two decades that followed Sex and the city are overwe meet our favorite New York City women as they’ve transitioned from their thirties to their fifties, still navigating the perils of love and friendship in the city while also dealing with death, marriage, children, and new beginnings. Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) is pursuing a new relationship, Charlotte (Kristin Davis) juggles her eclectic family and Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) faces a shocking loss (en by Kim Cattrall absence).

While And just like that received extremely mixed reviews from viewers and critics throughout its three seasons, fans of the original series were still watching a guilty pleasure watch. While the show struggled to be current in a way that felt both insightful and fresh, its stumbles provided more humor and intrigue than its creators might have expected, and fans still loved hanging out with their flawed TV girlfriends.

3. ‘Resident alien’ (2021-2025)

An alien sent to wipe out all life on planet Earth (Alan Tudyk) crash lands in a small Colorado town and assumes the identity of the town doctor, Harry Vanderspeigle. Although he still intends to complete his task, his mission is put in jeopardy when he discovers that a local boy can see his true form. Forced to adapt to the townspeople, the new Harry finds himself increasingly compassionate towards those he interacts with, further complicating his deadly protocol.

An official reason for the cancellation has not yet been confirmed, but the series was on life support when it moved to the USA Network after season 3. Regardless of the reason Resident alien leaves us, it more than succeeds as a funny mix of sci-fi and comedy with a winning performance from Tudyk.

2. ‘The sex lives of student girls’ (2021-2025)

At the fictional Essex College in Vermont, four 18-year-old freshmen adjust to their new school and all the joy and drama that comes with it – especially their intimate trials. We follow Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet), Leighton (René Rapp), Bela (Amrit Kaur), and Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott) as they navigate sexual relationships, friendships, and the struggles of emerging adulthood.

The sex lives of college girls tackles resonant themes about personal identity, sexuality and sexual violence with a gentle and tactful hand. The popular series didn’t get the ratings HBO wanted, and while it searched for a new home, it ultimately couldn’t find one. It’s a shame, because the series is an incredibly warm, funny, and truthful look at coming of age in a college environment.

1. ‘The righteous gems’ (2019-2025)

The righteous gems creator and star, Danny McBrideonce joked that he could keep making seasons of his popular televangelist satire for a long time, so it shocked fans when it was announced that season 4 would be the series’ last. While it’s meant to be a voluntary and natural conclusion to the four-season series, some fans can’t help but think it was cut too soon.

Carelessly, The righteous gems is a hilarious, well-written and superbly acted lampoon of megachurches and famous preachers that will be an instant hit for anyone who is a fan of McBride’s previous HBO series, Eastward and down And Vice directors. In addition to sharp criticism of millionaires, profiteering from ‘servants of God’, The righteous gems is also a truly gripping character drama, whose terrible protagonists you can’t help but love
