‘Tell Me Lies’ ends with season 3

One of the most toxic love stories ever shown on TV has come to an end. Hulu’s “Tell Me Lies” will end with Season 3, creator Meaghan Oppenheimer announced on Monday, Feb. 16, ahead of what will be the series finale.

“After three great seasons of Tell me liesTonight’s episode will be the series finale,” the showrunner wrote via Instagram.

Based on Carola Lovering’s 2018 novel, the Hulu drama debuted in September 2022 and tells the story of the destructive relationship between two college students, as well as the misdeeds within their very messy friend group. Grace Van Patten, Jackson White, Catherine Missal, Spencer House, Sonia Mena, Branden Cook, Benjamin Wadsworth, Alicia Crowder and Tom Ellis star.

The show unfolded across two timelines: one between 2008 and 2010, dissecting college years at the fictional Baird College, and the other in 2015, after college, centered around the wedding (and the weeks leading up to it) between Bree (Missal) and Evan (Cook).

However, the third season introduced a new romance between Bree and Evan’s best friend, Wrigley (House), a relationship that quickly attracted fans. “There are always people in friend groups who spend a lot of time in the same room, but never alone. You’re in a friend group and you’ll realize that I’ve never had a private conversation with this person. So they know each other, but they don’t know each other on a personal level,” Oppenheimer recently shared. Variety. “They, in Season 3, are in many ways the people who have dealt with the most severe trauma in their lives. I always love stories where people who are at rock bottom connect and find healing in each other and find a surprising safe space with someone else. So it felt very organic to me.”

Although the third season was not advertised as the final season, “it was definitely the ending I always envisioned and pitched years ago,” Oppenheimer said.

The finale of “Tell Me Lies” airs Monday at 9 PM PT on Hulu.
