Team USA Skater Maxim Naumov Is open when losing both parents in the devastating plane crash over the Potomac River in January … revealing that they have changed at the last minute of flights.
The 23-year-old opened the tragedy that cost the life of 28 skaters, coaches and relatives included his mother and father, Evgenia And Vadim Naumov – In an interview with “TODAY” … and he said that one of the last interactions he had with his mother was to inform him that they have made a change in their travel plans that came back from the 2025 American figure skating championships in Wichita.
“My mother told me that they change flights and that if I could pick them up,” he said.
“My mother always texts me and calls me as soon as they land.”
The flight of the American Airlines that they went on board eventually clashed with a military aircraft close to Reagan National Airport … and 67 people died.
In a heartbreaking revelation, Naumov – who left Wichita days earlier – the last thing his mother told him is that his parents loved him and were proud of him … What he said “everything means” for him.
The parents of Naumov were coaches in the Boston Skating Club … and were in themselves successful on the ice – they were world champions and took part in the Olympic Games.
Earlier this month, Naumov paid tribute to his parents in an emotional performance at the “Legacy on Ice” Charity event in Washington DC … that ended with his knees and cried.
Naumov said that his father and mother were “like superheroes for me” … but he will now bear the same passion and dedication they had with him.
“The only way out is,” Naumov continued. “There is no other way.”
