The first episode of The end of an era – which premiered on Disney+ on Friday, December 12 – showed the pop star, 35, and the NFL player, 36, talking on the phone. In their first conversation, filmed before Swift’s first Eras performance in London after her concerts in Vienna were canceled due to a planned terror attack, Swift told Kelce about her preparations Ed Sheeran‘s upcoming appearance during the surprise song portion of the set.
“How come you guys are so good?” Kelce asked. “You can just do a little rehearsal in the back room and then do this in front of everyone.”
Appreciating the compliment, Swift responded, “I love you. I don’t know, how do you remember 36,000 plays that are all tactical missions and then you just go and do it? It’s the same thing. It’s basically the same job! I have songs to remember, you have plays to remember.”
Kelce then joked, “You got teammates, I got teammates,” before Swift added, “You got Coach [Andy] Reid“I have my mother,” as they both burst out laughing.
The duo then talked about how much Kelce wished he could be on the show, with Swift jokingly complaining, “Why do you have to be in the NFL?”
Kelce assured his then-girlfriend that he would “scour the internet” for videos of her performance, adding, “I love you so much, baby.”
After Swift noted that she also loves him “so much,” Kelce replied, “Thank you for making my life better.”
Swift agreed with the sentiment, telling him, “I know, this was like, some people get a vitamin drip, I’m having this conversation.”
Later in the episode, Swift called Kelce shortly after the August 2024 concert to tell him it went “so great” and that she was “so happy” after feeling nervous.
“Oh, I hear it so much in your voice,” Kelce replied.
“I’m so relieved,” Swift added. “Honey, it’s like the crowd knew I needed a boost. When I walked on stage, they were wilder than I’ve ever seen.”
Kelce agreed, saying, “They sure did.”
The end of an era offers an unprecedented look at not only Swift’s record-breaking Eras tour but also her relationship with Kelce, which began in the summer of 2023. The first two episodes of the docuseries debuted on Friday, with two episodes set to air on both December 19 and 26.
The Eras tour has special meaning for the couple, who announced their engagement in August. Kelce tried to meet Swift at one of her concerts in Kansas City, Missouri in July 2023. After his plan to give her a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it fell through, he spoke publicly about their missed connection on his “New Heights” podcast with brother. Jason Kelcewhich led to Swift contacting Travis.
During Swift’s “New Heights” debut in August, Travis explained the role the tour played in sparking his romance with Swift.
“As much as you want to give ‘New Heights’ credit, I will The Eras tour “All credit,” he told Swift at the time. “Because if I had never gone to that show and been mesmerized and fascinated and then left with such a desire to meet you, I would never have gone here and told everyone how stupid I was. I had never been so caught up in the curiosity of who you were.
Not only was Travis swept away by Swift’s onstage persona, but he was just as enchanted by her behind closed doors.
“You see you on stage and you see how crazy you can get a whole stadium going, and then I get you in a room and it’s like I’ve known you forever,” he said. “It was just the easiest conversation I’ve ever had, and it was just so much fun that it just blew me away.”
He added: “She blew me away. I had never experienced something so enchanting on stage and then so real and so beautiful in real life.”
Travis later accompanied Swift on her travels for her international tour dates, giving the pair a chance to spend time together when she wasn’t performing.
“When we first started dating, he said, ‘I always really wanted to go on vacation to Europe and see Australia and go to Asia,’ and I said, ‘Well, I have a tour for that. It’s coming soon,'” Swift recalled. “We got to travel around the world and have vacations and adventures when I wasn’t on stage, which was really fun because Europe was so much fun, Australia is great. It was great.”
The first two episodes of The end of an era are now streaming on Disney+.
