SZA takes a 10-day vow of silence in India as her film opens

The singer-songwriter (real name Solána Imani Rowe) shared her excitement about the film’s release before the vow of silence kicked off via an Instagram post on Friday, January 17.
“Man, listen. I’m in India and they’re about to take my phone in seven hours for a ten day vow of silence😭, but I couldn’t miss the release day!!” SZA, 35, wrote. “I swear to God this was the most unique experience of my entire life!”
Referring to her producer Issa Rae and costar Keke PalmerSZA added, “When I signed on for this movie, I literally didn’t think about anything other than ‘gaddamn, I love Issa and Keke, what an honor.’ I didn’t think about the fact that I was actively on tour and wouldn’t be able to rehearse or prepare, I didn’t think I had a luxury of finishing or that I actually had to be in front of the camera at any time😂😭 (like duh , dummy.) That sounds insane, but that’s how much I respect and admire these women!! NO THOUGHTS JUST YES.”

SZA then praised the rest of the team involved, highlighting how they worked so hard to achieve the final product.
“@tiffanyblackness you are the best acting coach I could ever ask for! We literally met on set 😂you whipped me into shape in real time..you are a 🐐!! Coming out of my shell and facing myself and the world for this film was a transformative experience,” SZA continued.
“With every step I lose more skin and gain more respect for the process. @keke, you are a blessing. every day. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and see me beyond my preconceived notions. You held me in a way that I will never be able to post (let’s just say if it has to happen, it will happen 🤭😭). You are a girly girl and not for playing around. @issarae and @lawrencelamont thank you for ever seeing something in me!!”
The “Kill Bill” singer further joked, “Y’all are insane for picking someone with no acting experience to star with 😂but damn!!! I CAN NEVER THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR YOUR PATIENCE, TRUST AND UNDERSTANDING. I want you both to know that this has changed my life.”
