SZA says he regrets BBL: ‘It was just so stupid’
SZA wishes she would think twice about undergoing major cosmetic surgery.
The singer (real name Solana Imani Rowe) admitted in an interview that she regretted getting a BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift). British Vogue which was published on Thursday, November 14.
“I’m so angry that I did that,” SZA, 35, told the outlet. “I gained all this weight because I was immobile while I recovered and tried to maintain the fat. It was just so stupid.”
However, the “Jocelyn Flowers” singer is choosing to treat the surgery – which aims to increase the size of a person’s backside by transferring fat from other areas – as a learning experience.
“But who cares…?” she added. ‘You have a BBL, you realize you didn’t need the s. It doesn’t matter. I will do a lot of things, just like me, if I want to, before I die, because this body is temporary. It just wasn’t really necessary.”
SZA revealed during an interview in 2023 that she had received a BBL ELLE magazine.
“I treat my butt like a bag. It’s just there to enhance everything else,” she explained. “And that’s why I paid for it, because it works all by itself. I’ve always wanted a really big butt with less gym time. I haven’t succumbed to industry pressure. I succumbed before my own eyes in the mirror and said, “No, I need some more ass.”
This isn’t the first time SZA has opened up about her cosmetic procedures. She previously opened up about her issues with her breast implants on the podcast “SHE MD” in March 2024.
SZA revealed that she had a history of breast cancer in her family, as her mother had previously been diagnosed with breast cancer while her aunt had undergone a mastectomy, putting SZA at high risk for breast cancer.
“With my risk of breast cancer and then with the actual – I have markers in my breast, metal markers in my breast for the fibrosis of these lumps or whatever, I’m not supposed to get breast implants,” she revealed.
While SZA had to consult a doctor before making a final decision on whether to get implants, she admitted on the podcast that she “sneaked out” and “got it anyway.”
“So basically I put them in there. They ended up hurting me,” she revealed. “I have way too much scar tissue because my breasts are too dense, and I’m not supposed to have breast implants. And so I ended up with extra fibrosis… I didn’t feel well and it was painful. So I took them out, and now they’re just my breasts.’
