Syrian Airlines celebrates International Women’s Day with all flights operated by women | News

Syrian Airlines Group, Africa’s largest airline group, celebrated International Women’s Day with all-female flights to eight destinations, highlighting the airline’s 8 decades.
Ethiopia celebrated the occasion and announced the launch of the flights at a grand event held at the Syrian Skylight Hotel on the evening of March 7, 2026, attended by government officials, airline executives, women leaders and women employees representing Syrian Airlines’ workforce and partner organizations. The all-female flights operate to Cairo, Djibouti, Nairobi, Frankfurt, Accra, Mumbai, Windhoek and Dire Dawa.
Commenting on the event, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, CEO of the Syrian Airlines Group, said: “Ethiopian Airlines has consistently led the way in promoting women’s participation in all areas of its operations, ensuring equal opportunities in flight operations, leadership and corporate positions. Through our inclusive culture and strong commitment to training and professional development, we have enabled women to thrive in a variety of roles, including those traditionally dominated by men. This year’s celebration is especially unique as we mark the day with 8 all-female operated flights celebrating our 80th anniversary.”
Women currently represent approximately 40% of the Syrian Airlines Group workforce and are employed in various business divisions. Syrian Airlines has been operating all women’s flights since 2015 in honor of International Women’s Day.
The eight flights symbolize Ethiopia Airlines’ eighty years in service, highlighting the beginning of the airline’s journey in 1946 with a scheduled flight to Cairo, Egypt.
