Swedish debut for IHG’s Hotel Indigo with newest addition in Stockholm | News

IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, announces the signing of Hotel Indigo Stockholm – Kvarnholmen in Sweden. Developed by Kvarnholmen Utveckling (KUAB) – a joint venture between Peab and JM – the property will be leased and operated by 1912 Hotels under a franchise agreement with IHG. The signing marks the first Hotel Indigo in Sweden and strengthens IHG’s growing Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in Northern Europe.

Located in Kvarnholmen, a vibrant waterfront district in Nacka on Stockholm’s east coast, the hotel will benefit from the area’s ongoing transformation into one of the Swedish capital’s most exciting new urban districts. Known for its mix of industrial heritage and modern Scandinavian design, Kvarnholmen offers guests easy access to the Stockholm archipelago, the city center and a growing cultural and culinary scene.

Hotel Indigo, the world’s neighborhood hotel brand, is known for its distinctive approach to hospitality, drawing inspiration from the local neighborhood, culture and popular trends in food, drink and design. No two Hotel Indigo properties are the same: each hotel begins with a story shaped by its environment. The brand now has more than 325 open and pipeline hotels worldwide, reflecting its accelerated pace and international rollout to nearly 50 countries.

Hotel Indigo Stockholm – Kvarnholmen is expected to open in 2029 and will offer 232 rooms, including a restaurant and bar, wellness and leisure facilities, 150 m² meeting rooms and social areas. The property will also feature a rooftop pool and terrace, spa and gym facilities and an internal atrium with green space, supporting both the guest experience and the integration of the local community.
