Steve Martin in ‘Oswald’; ‘Only murders’ producer gives instructions of season 5

Steve Martin celebrated his milestone 80th birthday on Thursday and he marked the opportunity by spending the day with photographing a scene in Disneyland. Speaking on Saturday on the Televerse festival of the television academy, Martin shared why the filming at that location on that day meant so much to him.

“I shot a small scene in Disneyland on my birthday, August 14, two days ago, and it was in the magic store where I was working when I was 15,” he told the audience for a “only murders in the building” Emmy Fyc event in Televse. “I am in exactly the same place where I was when I was 15! And I said,” It’s like you are going to work when you are 15 and then come home from work and you are 80. ”

Martin did not specify what he was filming in Disneyland, but Jon Favreau is currently photographing his Disney+ series about Walt Disney’s original pre-mickey mouse character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, in the park. This seems to confirm a report, written for the first time by the inside newsletter, that Martin will indeed appear in the “Oswald” series. The previously unveiled cast of the show includes in addition to Kathryn Hahn, Amy Sedaris, Ravi Cabot censeers, Mykal-Michelle Harris and Ryder Allen. Favreau serves as a writer, executive producer and director on ‘Oswald’, while Walt Disney produces Studios.

At Televse, Martin was accompanied by co-stars Martin Short (via Remote Video) and Selena Gomez, as well as exec-producer/showrunner John Hoffman. Da’vine Joy Randolph, who plays Detective Donna Williams in the show, moderated the Hulu Comedy panel.

Asked for season 5, Hoffman revealed that “we are doing something new, we get from New York’s headlines today. That will be a scourge, and you will have to find out what that I mean by that. But very specifically in ways that are now very topical. And we also go back to the theme that has always started, the classic Meets-Modder- and old versus new.”

The first trailer of the show reveals that this season will include a bit of a Mafioso, since Charles (Martin), Oliver (short) and Mabel (Gomez) enter the organized crime underworld to investigate the death of Arconia Portier Lester. “This is very bad, what is the power game going on in New York that might reflect a little bit what is happening in the country,” said Hoffman. “And in our own way we point to a kind of interesting dynamics about who gets the power and who has the power? Who has the power? Who gets it now? And what does our trio do if they are in the middle of that? So I hope you enjoy it.

“Only murders”, which is nominated for an excellent comedy series Emmy for season 4, returns for season 5 on September 9 at Hulu.
