Startups launch products to catch people using AI cheating app Cluely
Ai Cheating Startup went to Cluely last week viral with Bold Claims that the hidden In-Browser window “not detectable” is and can be used to “cheat everything” from job interviews to exams.
But some startups claim that they can catch the users of Cluely. And Cluely says it is ready to develop hardware products such as smart glasses or even brain chips, which completely bypass anti-cheat software.
San Francisco Startup Validia launched A free product called ‘Tely’ last week in direct response to Cluely. The software activates an alarm if it detects someone who uses Cluely, says Validia.
Rhode Island-based Startup Proctaroo too claims Cluely can detect the platform users.
“When a Proctaroo session is active, we can see current applications and ‘hidden’ background processes – Cluely is no different,” CEO Adrian Aamodt told WAN and criticized Cluely’s business model as “unethical”.
Cluely’s co-founder and CEO, Chungin “Roy” Lee, called the anti-cheating tools that are sent usless by these startups, comparing them with years of failed cheating in the video game industry.
What is more, Lee says that Cluely can go into hardware, which makes anti-cheating software superfluous.
“Whether it is smart glasses, a transparent glass screen overlay, a recording chain or even a brain chip, we don’t know for sure,” he said.
Lee even says that expanding to hardware is’ technological ‘pretty trivial’, despite many controversial AI hardware errors such as the AI pin of Humane.
However, the research by Cluely’s business model seems to have had some impact. Cluely has scrubbed references To cheat on exams and interviews on its website and manifesto, a large original sales argument. Now Touts Cluely is only ‘cheating’ for things such as sales conversations and meetings.
Lee told WAN that Cluely “defines” his messages to focus on the “largest and most impactful markets”.
“Ultimately we see a future in which everyone uses AI as the greatest potential, and that means planting in large, specific markets and expanding from them,” he said.
