Sophie Turner talks about her mother’s guilt while working

Sophie Turner came true about the guilt she feels balancing work and being there for her daughters.

“Mom guilt is there forever,” the 29-year-old actress said in an interview with Net-a-Porter’s Porter published on Monday January 5. “I work all week and on the weekends I spend all day every day with my kids.”

Turner, who shares daughters Willa, 5, and Delphine, 3, with ex-husband Joe Jonasadded that she experiences the same heartbreaking feeling when she’s out with friends.

“But when I go out to dinner with a friend, I run back home because my heart sinks because I left them,” she shared.

Sophie Turner opens up about her dating life – or lack thereof. “I mean, I haven’t seen my friends or gone on a date in weeks, months!” Turner, 29, told Net-a-Porter’s Porter in an interview published on Monday, January 5. She continued, “I sometimes dismiss parts of my life […]

That feeling also translates into her dating life, as she is currently focusing solely on her work and motherhood.

“I mean, I haven’t seen my friends or gone on a date in weeks, months!” she admitted. “I sometimes lay off parts of my life. I only have the capacity for work and family right now.”

Turner noted that she is “working on it” to make time for friendships and a love life. (The Game of Thrones alum was last linked to Coldplay singer Chris Martin.)

“I’ll get there,” she said.

Turner explained that while she feels guilty about working so much, she also wants to be a positive influence on her children.

“To be a great role model for them, I have to have a passion for myself,” she said. “I love that they see me go to work every day and work my butt off.”

Turner credited her daughters with rekindling her love for acting through the activities they did at home.

“They love making up plays. I have the joy and the childishness of it back, which is so nice,” she reflected. “[Although] they still want to play Disney princesses, where the prince comes and kisses them on the cheek. And I’m like, ‘No, YOU can save the prince!’

In addition to teaching her daughters to think creatively, Turner has also given them the tools to express their feelings in healthy ways — which has also helped her.

“When you have these overwhelming emotions, how do you get out of them? That’s something I’ve never really figured out how to do for myself. So I teach my kids and we try different things,” she told the outlet. “And then it’s like they’re teaching me how to calm myself down or process an emotion.”

Sophie Turner is sharing lessons she has seemingly learned with her social media followers. “Life is really just a series of endings and beginnings. In a loop,” reads an anonymous message shared via text that Turner, 29, posted to her Instagram Stories on Friday, December 12. […]

Turner has had his fair share of ups and downs in recent years. In September 2023, Turner and Jonas, 36, split after four years of marriage. The couple faced a custody battle over their daughters before finalizing their divorce in September 2024.

“No matter how stressed I am, I know I can get through it. That’s the beauty of a relatively difficult 20s: I’ve learned that I can survive a lot,” Turner reflected on Monday. “I’m like, there’s pressure, there’s stress, but I’ve been through worse. I have to remind myself that we’re very malleable and we can handle a lot more than we think we can.”

While Turner focuses on what lies ahead, her main priority is to have “peace.”

“I feel like it’s been really hectic for a long time and I’m ready to not have that anymore. Just settle in a little bit,” she said. “We’ll see if that happens.”
